- April 27 - May 3, 2020
IEEE Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technology, College of Engineering Chengannur organized a week-long program named ‘Productive Drill’, from 26 April 2020 to 1 May 2020, for helping students to make the most out of their lockdown days. The program contained several tasks for the students, which were propagated through posters and contents in social media, and aimed at improving the creative and product development skills of the participants. The first task of the event was to create an account on LinkedIn and to make some connections. It was something that would prove useful for them in securing a job. Getting involved in Humanitarian activities was the next task. Encouraging students to have fun while doing something useful was the agenda behind it. The third one was a follow-up of the task before. Students were asked to create a blog post on any social media, regarding their humanitarian activities. Learning a new programming language constituted the fourth one. This was to motivate students to boost up their programming skills, and was also thought to be useful for the students in the future. Learning to write an impressive resume or CV was the fifth task. And the final task of the program involved doing a small project that would be beneficial to the people in the society, thus providing an opportunity for the participants to practice the skills they have developed.
Overall, it was a great opportunity for the students to make their lockdown period more productive and exhilarating.
